About the Opportunity
Our client, a leader in the autonomous vehicle and technology sector, is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to help ensure the security of their customers, staff, systems, communications, and data. This role involves supporting the implementation, maintenance, and upkeep of critical network security systems. The engineer will be a key contributor to architecture, design, and implementation work as the client matures its network security programs, processes, and practices. This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical, communication, and collaboration skills across Information Security, IT, Product, and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
This role is focused on the successful implementation and administration of network security systems, with a strong focus on change management and customer experience. Your responsibilities will include:
- System Implementation & Upkeep: Support the implementation, maintenance, and upkeep of core network security systems, including firewalls, URL filtering, IDS/IPS, network access control (NAC), remote access VPN, and similar devices.
- Architecture & Design: Contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation work for maturing the network security programs, processes, and practices.
- Network Security Administration: Provide engineering and administration support for Next Generation Firewall/UTM devices, AWS Network Security, Network Access Control (802.1X), and Remote Access VPN.
- Collaboration & Process: Collaborate with members of the Information Security, IT, Product, and Operations teams, maintaining a focus on customer experience and adherence to change management protocols.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years of Network Security Engineer experience supporting production environments.
- 4+ years of IT systems/application engineering/administration experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS network security services.
- Strong understanding of the OSI model (all layers) and Layer-7 protection techniques as they relate to network security.
- Strong understanding of AWS Network Firewall, Security Groups, and NACLs, along with AWS Transit Gateway and VPC architectures.
- Practical knowledge of PKI, cryptography, and certificates.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Strong communication skills for clear status updates and collaboration.
