Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 months
Pay Range: $85 - $90/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Onsite - Foster City, CA
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Autonomous Vehicle Technology, is looking for a skilled Network Test Automation Engineer – Ethernet Systems DV to join their team for a 6 months engagement. This project involves building and maintaining automation frameworks that validate Ethernet-connected sensor networks on their AV platform. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Build and maintain Python-based test automation frameworks for Ethernet compliance, integration, and performance validation.
- Develop PCAP/tcpdump tooling and fault injection scripts to validate network communication test cases (ARP, ICMP, FCS, link-loss, and failure recovery).
- Configure and manage VLAN-segmented (802.1Q) topologies across bench and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test setups, including power supplies, DAQ systems, and relay controls.
- Validate interoperability between network switches and sensors, ensuring compliance with security and PPAP standards for Ethernet ECUs.
- Own technical documentation for frameworks, test methodologies, and system configurations.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 6+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Deep expertise in network fundamentals, including the OSI model, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, SNMP, and VLAN (802.1Q) configuration. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Advanced Python and Bash scripting with proven test automation framework experience (e.g., pytest).
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Proficiency with network diagnostic tools: Wireshark, iPerf, tcpdump, traceroute, and ethtool.
- Solid CI/CD and DevOps experience; ability to debug across the full OSI stack.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
- W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
