Title:  PCIe SSD Validation Engineer
Job Type:  Contract
Contract Length:  6 months (potential to extend)
Pay Range:  $70 - $80/hr
Start Date:  7/27
Location:  Onsite - Santa Clara, CA

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in the data storage industry, is looking for a skilled PCIe SSD Validation Engineer  to join their team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves executing critical PCIe validation, including Gen4, Gen5, and Gen6 link and protocol tests, and driving root-cause analysis to ensure product reliability. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Execute PCIe Validation: Conduct Gen4/Gen5/Gen6 link and protocol tests across different platforms and system configurations, validating SSD behavior under abnormal and corner conditions.
  • Collaborate & Debug: Triage failures from regression, bring-up, and customer scenarios by correlating PCIe traces, NVMe/OCP logs, and system logs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with FW, HW, and systems teams to root-cause issues, verify fixes, and roll improvements back into the test suite.
  • Technical Tooling: Leverage PCIe analyzers/exercisers for trace capture and error injection, and utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and BERTs as needed to support signal and protocol-level debug.
  • Leadership: Lead coverage improvements based on lessons learned, standardize PCIe test APIs, and share debug and test Best Known Methods (BKMs) across products.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 6+ years of experience in SSD, storage, or PCIe-centric validation/bring-up (or equivalent embedded/high-speed I/O domain).
  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Python (or similar) for test and tooling development, with the ability to work effectively in Linux-based validation environments.
  • Experience with CI/regression infrastructure (e.g., Jenkins, Git-based workflows) for large-scale test execution.
  • Hands-on experience using PCIe analyzers/exercisers (e.g., Teledyne/LeCroy, Keysight) for trace capture and debug is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear findings, trade-offs, and recommendations to engineering and program teams.

  • W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
