Start Date: ASAP
Location: Foster City, CA (Full-Time, On-Site)
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Autonomous Vehicle Technology and Advanced Manufacturing, is looking for a skilled Quality Metrology Technician to join their team for a 6 months engagement. This project involves increasing the quality across products manufactured in-house by providing rapid prototyping capability and facilitating quick design iterations for product development. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspection and Measurement: Evaluate inspection and quality requirements for new Jira tickets to interpret inspection plans and conduct visual, functional, and mechanical measurements and tests across a multitude of parts (injection molding, castings, 3D printed, CNC machined, and electromechanical sub-assemblies).
- Metrology Operations: Perform Metrology tasks using CMM and/or 3D laser scanner, as well as other standard metrology equipment.
- Quality Documentation: Create and submit detailed inspection and quality documents (Dimensional reports, FTR’s, Rework Instructions, TDO’s, etc.) in various quality databases (Jira, RGBSI, 3DX).
- Non-conformance & Resolution: Document and record non-conformances via TDO’s and Jira Tickets, and assist the RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) process to drive quality issues to resolution.
- Compliance and Maintenance: Maintain parts traceability requirements per company standard and ensure the calibration schedule of all production and test equipment is current.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar role within mechanical, electrical, and electronics equipment inspection. An associate’s degree in a relevant field is the minimum educational requirement.
- Deep expertise in performing quality inspections and using precision measurement tools. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Experience in defining and executing quality inspection criteria for CNC machined and 3D printed parts.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings using GD&T methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of QMS (Quality Management System) and Core Quality tools such as Process Flow Chart, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Measurement System Analysis.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet tight project deadlines.
