Job Type: W2 Contract
Contract Length: 1+ year
Pay Range: $80–120/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Hybrid - Los Angeles, California (Tues, Wed, Thurs in-office)
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Entertainment Technology, is looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join their team for a 1+ year engagement. This project involves owning the day-to-day accounting and month-end close process for a large, internal VFX and Virtual Production studio, ensuring accurate, accrual-based accounting under US GAAP. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can handle tight deadlines, is deeply detail-oriented, and can deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Month-End Close Ownership: Own the accounting and month-end close process for the studio’s operating expenses, preparing accurate, accrual-based accounting under US GAAP, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, expense audits, expense flux analyses, and forecast vs. actual reviews.
- Intercompany & Revenue: Review intercompany and 3rd party revenue calculations with cross-functional partners and prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for intercompany and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Financial Reporting: Assist with accounting inputs for internal management reporting (e.g., CFO slides, close packages).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders in FP&A, Finance Procurement Operations, and Production Finance to ensure timely and accurate month-end close inputs and deliverables.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 6+ years of relevant experience, including exposure to global, public company month-end close cycles.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP. CPA or similar designation preferred.
- Deep expertise in Google Sheets and Excel, with the ability to comfortably navigate and sift through large data sets. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Organization and Attention to Detail: Enjoys getting into the weeds to discover and correct the root cause of issues, and can manage multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong Communication and Judgment: Can connect individual issues back to bigger picture financial statement implications, solve problems autonomously, and proactively flag status updates to stakeholders.
- Experience with Workday or Blackline is a plus.
- Experience with Entertainment accounting or intercompany accounting is a plus.
- W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
