Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 Months
Pay Range: $70-$100/hr
Start Date: 3/16/26
Location: Remote
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in EdTech, is looking for a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves leading a strategic, high-impact migration from AWS Proton to Spacelift to manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) at scale. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the Spacelift Migration: Act as the technical lead for transitioning our orchestration from AWS Proton to Spacelift, designing the organizational structure (Stacks, Contexts, and Blueprints) from the ground up.
- Architect Policy-as-Code: Implement robust governance and security guardrails using Rego (OPA) within the Spacelift environment.
- Modernize IaC: Standardize our Terraform workflows while maintaining and bridging legacy configurations in Puppet.
- Pipeline Excellence: Enhance our CI/CD maturity by integrating Spacelift with our existing Jenkins, Git, and Nexus ecosystem.
- System Reliability: Monitor and manage a high-traffic, 24/7 production web application environment using Splunk and various open-source monitoring tools.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Deep expertise in Spacelift (in a production environment), AWS services (EC2, RDS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, DynamoDB), Terraform (or CloudFormation), Puppet (or Ansible/Chef/Salt), and Python or Go for automation. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Experience with Amazon ECS or other container orchestration platforms, Java/Tomcat/Apache stacks, MySQL databases, Git, Jenkins, and Nexus.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team, and the ability to document work and mentor internal teams on Spacelift best practices.
