Contract Length:  6 months (initial)
Pay Range:  $68–80/hr
Start Date:  ASAP
Location:  Hybrid (Preference for 4 days onsite in local office) or Remote

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a pioneer in groundbreaking sensing and perception technology, is seeking a skilled Senior Systems Engineer  to join their team. This project involves the robust development and lifecycle maintenance of next-generation LiDAR sensor products designed for applications ranging from automated driving and robotics to consumer electronics. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that requires a technically savvy systems engineer who can bridge the gap between architectural requirements and real-world system performance.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of technical systems engineering tasks and compliance documentation. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Technical Documentation & Requirements: Maintain product technical requirements and detailed system design documentation using formal management tools (e.g., JAMA).
  • Architectural Analysis: Perform detailed architectural decomposition and derive clear, verifiable component-level requirements.
  • Trade-off Studies: Utilize system modeling to conduct technical trade-off studies, perform design analysis, and validate architectural decisions.
  • Safety & Cybersecurity Compliance: Implement and document the Functional Safety Concept (ISO 26262) and the Cybersecurity Concept (ISO/SAE 21434), including necessary safety/security analyses (FMEA, FTA, TARA).
  • Cross-Disciplinary Liaison: Act as the technical systems liaison to ensure requirements traceability, verification planning, and interface consistency across engineering disciplines.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for an engineer with a proven track record of successful technical delivery. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related technical role, preferably in the automotive or high-reliability sensor industry.
  • Hands-on technical understanding and experience with sensor technology and its application in autonomous systems (LiDAR experience is strongly preferred).
  • Expertise in the execution and documentation of systems processes related to ASPICE, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), and Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434). Experience with SOTIF (ISO 21448) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Requirements Management Software (e.g., JAMA, DOORS, or Polarion).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a high-ownership, technical engineering environment.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience (e.g., SysML) is highly desirable.
