Title:  Sensor Systems Engineer
Job Type:  Contract (W2 Only)
Contract Length:  6+ months
Pay Range:  $80 - $85/hr
Start Date:  ASAP
Location:  Hybrid - Foster City, CA

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in Automotive Technology, is looking for a skilled Sensor Systems Engineer  to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves improving the requirement traceability of the existing sensor architecture and defining top-down requirements to guide investigation into the next generation sensor architecture. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Identify, define, and analyze bounding use cases and challenging scenarios for the autonomous driving system.
  • Develop and document nominal system requirements for the autonomy sensor suite (including cameras, radar, and lidar) based on detailed analysis.
  • Perform trade studies and analysis to evaluate different system architectures and sensor configurations against known requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to ensure that the system design meets all documented requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, requirements analysis, or a similar role in the autonomous vehicle, aerospace, or robotics industry.
  • Deep expertise in defining and analyzing complex systems and scenarios, combined with a strong understanding of sensor technologies, including cameras, radar, and lidar. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Experience using Python or other high-level languages (e.g., Matlab) for analysis.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art perception and planning algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL and Git.
