Title:  Software Engineer (x5)
Job Type:  Contract
Contract Length:  6+ months
Pay Range:  $90-95/hr
Start Date:  ASAP
Location:  Onsite - San Diego, CA

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in the Technology sector, is looking for skilled Software Engineers (x5)  to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves designing and developing AI agents and autonomous systems, building conversational AI solutions, and architecting production-grade AI applications focused on scalability, reliability, and performance. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing and developing AI agents and autonomous systems capable of complex task execution and decision-making.
  • Developing and optimizing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems for enhanced AI application performance.
  • Building conversational AI solutions, including chatbots and voice-based customer service systems.
  • Implementing and optimizing machine learning models using PyTorch and evaluating/deploying appropriate LLMs based on specific needs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical AI solutions and architecting production-grade AI solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 6+ years proficiency in Python for AI/ML development.
  • Deep expertise in PyTorch (or willingness to learn for entry-level candidates), and understanding of transformer neural network architecture and attention mechanisms. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Knowledge of RAG system components (vector databases, embeddings, retrieval strategies, prompt engineering), and familiarity with major LLM providers and their trade-offs.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team, and experience integrating AI capabilities into applications.
W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
