Join Our Innovative Team as a Software Engineer, Python Full-Stack – AI Triage & RCA (Contract)

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team working on ZBIT, an AI-powered platform revolutionizing how manufacturing issues are diagnosed and resolved. This role offers the chance to build impactful full-stack solutions, integrate AI with manufacturing data, and work on fast-paced, innovative projects that make a difference.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and enhance LLM-powered root cause analysis (RCA) and triage agents specifically tailored for manufacturing environments.
- Build end-to-end full-stack features, including Python (FastAPI) services and responsive web/UI components, integrated seamlessly with manufacturing test platforms.
- Integrate diverse manufacturing data sources such as diagnostics, BOMs, firmware configs, and Slack into AI agents’ context to improve diagnostic accuracy.
- Collaborate with ML and RCA engineers to refine prompts, evaluate outputs, and enhance the real-world performance of AI-powered solutions.
- Move quickly within an existing codebase, delivering reliable, maintainable, and tested code aligned with manufacturing roadmaps.
- Contribute to a fast-paced, high-impact environment focused on transforming manufacturing diagnostics.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Python, capable of independently managing REST/FastAPI services, asynchronous jobs, and robust data pipelines.
- Full-stack development experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or React, enabling delivery of comprehensive features end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience with LLM or AI agent development, including prompt design, structured output, and output evaluation.
- Proven ability to quickly adapt to and become productive within unfamiliar or complex codebases.
- API development and data-integration expertise, including building and consuming REST APIs and connecting to heterogeneous external data sources.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with large-monorepo build systems like Bazel.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, hardware, diagnostics, FMEAs, BOM, wirelists, or related test-data domains.
- Skills in retrieval/search techniques using embeddings, vector search, or log/ticket analysis (Databricks or similar).
- Knowledge of observability, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in software development within manufacturing, hardware, or test-data environments is highly desirable.
- Typically 3+ years of professional experience in full-stack development and AI-related projects.
Other Requirements:
- Location: Hybrid in Foster City, CA, with at least 3 days/week onsite.
- Travel within the Bay Area is required.
- Position is W2 only.
- Start Date: ASAP.
- Duration: 6+ months with potential for extension.
