Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: Long-term engagement
Pay Range: $54 - $82 / hour
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote (Austin, TX location preference)
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Cloud Security and Threat Operations, is looking for a skilled Systems Engineer (Platform Abuse) to join their team for a long-term engagement. This project involves owning the entire software development lifecycle (design, architecture, deployment, and monitoring) for systems that detect, process, and respond to platform abuse reports (e.g., phishing, copyright) at scale. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and Scale Systems: Design, build, run, and scale distributed tools and services that support automated abuse detection, mitigation, and Legal Response efforts.
- Develop Data Pipelines: Develop critical data pipelines and services to collect, analyze, and act on abuse signals at scale.
- Maintain Trust & Safety Solutions: Extend, improve, and maintain mission-critical Trust & Safety solutions, including compliance pipelines and abuse scanning tools.
- System Architecture & Best Practices: Improve system design and architecture to ensure stability, performance, and maintainability of services; write well-tested, modular, and reusable code following engineering best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Threat Operations, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Product teams to translate complex legal and security requirements into robust, scalable solutions.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years of experience in a similar software or systems engineering role.
- Deep expertise in Go and TypeScript, leveraging technologies such as Temporal, Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, Terraform, and PostgreSQL. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Experience with owning the entire software development lifecycle and contributing to operational excellence initiatives (monitoring, observability, reliability).
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team and contribute to project planning efforts.
