Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6+ months
Pay Range: $100-125/hr
Start Date: N/A
Location: Hybrid- Framingham, MA
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Technology, is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join their team for an engagement to sustain a systems engineering capability transformation during a planned leave. This project involves advancing active initiatives such as a system-of-systems operating model pilot and a Jama Connect pilot, while coaching teams on requirements excellence. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coaching teams on writing high-quality needs and requirements, improving decomposition, integration, and traceability.
- Clarifying system boundaries, interfaces, and ownership, and facilitating cross-team alignment in ambiguous areas for the System-of-Systems Pilot.
- Supporting a focused Jama Connect pilot team, establishing best practices for requirement structure, hierarchy, and traceability.
- Introducing practical systems engineering tools (e.g., system boundary definition, DSMs, value analysis) and delivering focused workshops and 1:1 coaching.
- Acting as both a technical authority and change leader to influence across engineering, product, and program leadership to drive the SE transformation.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- 12+ years of experience in systems engineering for complex products.
- Deep expertise in Needs vs. requirements definition, System boundary clarity, Requirement decomposition and traceability, and Interface management. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals, balancing rigor with pragmatism.
- Proven experience leading requirements improvement initiatives and demonstrated ability to drive change in low-to-moderate SE maturity environments.
- Formal SE training (INCOSE-aligned preferred) and strong facilitation and communication skills.
