Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 6+ months
Pay Range: $60-65/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Hybrid – Foster City, CA
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Advanced Hardware Engineering and Autonomous Systems, is looking for a skilled Technical Service Data Engineer to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves translating complex engineering specifications and 3D CAD data into high-precision repair procedures (Tasklists) within the ERP system. This role acts as the essential bridge between Design Engineering and the Shop Floor, ensuring every technical value is accurately documented and maintained throughout the engineering change lifecycle. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
- ERP Tasklist Authoring: Build and maintain detailed repair "Tasklists" in the ERP, mapping specific Part Numbers, Joint IDs, and critical assembly values (e.g., torque, sequence).
- CAD Data Extraction: Use CATIA or similar PLM software to navigate complex assemblies, identify components, and verify spatial requirements to determine "what else" needs to be removed or replaced for repairs.
- Change Management (CM): Act as the Data Agent for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by analyzing the impact on existing repair procedures and manually updating the ERP to ensure the shop floor always has the latest data.
- Technical Documentation: Synthesize engineering jargon into clear, logical repair steps, requiring the mechanical depth of a repair technician.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional Experience: 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in a technical role, specifically within Repair & Overhaul (MRO) or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Practical Repair Experience: Must have a "hands-on" background and direct exposure to Repair Operations to understand the practical constraints of a workshop (e.g., tool accessibility, safety protocols).
- Software Proficiency (CAD): Advanced navigation proficiency in CATIA (V5/V6) or 3DExperience for assembly navigation and part extraction.
- Software Proficiency (ERP): Proven experience with SAP (PP/QM/PM modules), Oracle, or equivalent, focusing on master data, routings/tasklists, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Precision Mindset: An obsession with data accuracy, specifically regarding Torque Values and Joint IDs, where a typo can lead to mechanical failure.
- Analytical Detective Work: Ability to analyze a Change Order and intuitively know which Tasklists across the system need to be adjusted.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical).
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
