Title:  Test Engineer (Manufacturing Electronics)
Job Type:  Contract
Contract Length:  6 months
Pay Range:  $75 - $80/hr
Start Date:  ASAP
Location:  Onsite - Foster City, CA

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in the autonomous vehicle industry, is looking for a skilled Test Engineer  to join their team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves building and implementing test solutions for the manufacturing of the complex electronic platform that underpins their autonomous vehicles. You will be responsible for developing tests for critical components, including custom PCIe devices and networking solutions, and ensuring robust test coverage across all phases of manufacturing (PCBA, module, system, vehicle). This role requires a curious, enthusiastic, and self-motivated engineer who can work independently and embrace new technologies.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Test Solution Development: Build and release test solutions for use during early bring-up activities and manufacturing.
  • Test Coverage Implementation: Work cross-functionally with electrical engineering and software teams to implement the correct test coverage and process across all phases of manufacturing (PCBA, module, system, vehicle).
  • Validation Support: Support the test and validation of prototype designs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish best practices and drive continuous improvement for optimizing test execution, test runtime, and yield.
  • New Product Integration (NPI): Develop tests for critical components including custom PCIe devices, networking solutions, and other PC components.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 6-8 years of industry experience with a BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging complex software systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and shell (bash) scripting. Experience with other programming languages such as C++ is beneficial.
  • Strong git proficiency (workflows, conflict resolution, advanced branching and merging, history manipulation).
  • Experience with the Linux platform—debugging failures using command line tools such as lshw and ssh.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and testing electronic assemblies; knowledge of NPI (New Product Introduction) testing and validation is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work independently and organize work around schedules and critical deadlines.
