About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in the insurance and financial services industry, is looking for a curious, collaborative, and driven Workday Configuration Analyst  to join their team. This role focuses on optimizing and evolving their Workday Payroll environment. You will work alongside experienced HR, Payroll Operations, and IT partners, developing deep subject matter expertise while contributing to meaningful projects that directly impact the employee experience. This is a high-impact role for a self-motivated professional who enjoys solving complex problems, learning how systems connect, and partnering with others to deliver great outcomes.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Partnering with Payroll Operations, HR, and IT teams to configure, support, and optimize the Workday US Payroll module.
  • Collaborating with team members to troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues, including integrations, data loads, and tax configurations.
  • Supporting end-to-end Payroll projects—from discovery through testing and deployment—ensuring absence plans and benefit elections interface accurately with payroll calculations.
  • Identifying opportunities for payroll automation, process improvements, and configuration enhancements, utilizing AI tools and prompt engineering to accelerate troubleshooting.
  • Developing and maintaining Workday reports, dashboards, and user documentation, while staying current with Workday releases and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone with a proven track record and strong technical aptitude. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience configuring Workday, with a strong focus or exposure to the US Payroll module.
  • Workday Payroll certification or active pursuit of certification.
  • Exposure to payroll tax configuration, garnishments, and year-end processing (W-2s).
  • Familiarity with Workday Time Tracking and how it integrates with payroll.
  • A Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, IT, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to communicate technical concepts in a business-friendly way.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort using AI assistants and prompt-based tools to research solutions and work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
